Grub Control Langley - Stop Chafer Beetle Damage for Good

We understand how disheartening it is to watch your Langley lawn get torn apart - brown patches spreading across the turf, spongy ground underfoot, and crows or raccoons returning night after night to dig for grubs. Professional grub control is the reliable path forward. We are a licensed grub control specialist serving Langley and Surrey, BC, using Health Canada–registered chemical treatments that deliver guaranteed, measurable results - not another season of crossed fingers.

The Grub Problem in Langley Lawns

Langley homeowners across the Township and City have been dealing with the European chafer beetle (Amphimallon majale) for years, and the damage it causes is well documented locally. This invasive species has spread steadily across the Lower Mainland since it was first recorded in BC in 2001, and Langley's residential neighbourhoods are firmly in its path.

The destruction happens in two distinct waves:

Root damage from chafer beetle grubs:

White, C-shaped larvae live just below the soil surface and feed on grass roots from late summer through spring.
Heavily infested turf feels spongy underfoot and lifts away from the soil like a loose carpet - because the roots holding it in place have been consumed.
\nBrown patches appear and expand across the lawn, often worsening during dry spells when weakened grass cannot compensate for root loss.

Wildlife foraging damage:

Grubs emit a scent that attracts crows, raccoons, and skunks, which tear up the turf to reach them.
This secondary damage is often far more dramatic than the grub feeding itself - shredded, upturned sod across large areas of lawn.
\nWildlife will return night after night as long as a grub population remains in the soil, regardless of deterrents.

According to Metro Vancouver's European Chafer Beetle Best Management Practices, the management threshold is typically 5–10 grubs per square foot - a level many Langley lawns exceed before homeowners realize the extent of the infestation.

Why Professional Grub Control Beats DIY

When Langley residents search for solutions, they often encounter municipal guidance recommending nematodes applied in July and August. Nematodes are a biological option, and they are a reasonable starting point for very mild infestations - but they leave many homeowners without a lasting solution.

Here is why nematodes frequently fall short:

\nNarrow timing window. Nematodes must be applied within a precise period, kept moist daily for two to three weeks, and stored carefully before use. Any deviation reduces effectiveness significantly.
\nLimited success rates. Research cited in Metro Vancouver's best management practices document suggests nematodes achieve roughly 75% control under ideal conditions - meaning up to one in four grubs survives to damage your lawn again.
\nNot preventative. Nematodes cannot be applied before an infestation is established, leaving your lawn vulnerable each new season.
\nOverwhelmed by heavy infestations. When grub counts are high, a single biological treatment rarely delivers the population reduction needed to stop wildlife foraging.

Store-bought grub control products are not a reliable alternative either. The professional-grade chemical treatments we use are not available to consumers - they require a pesticide applicator licence to purchase and apply. Products available at hardware stores have consistently underperformed in our experience, and many Langley homeowners have already tried them without success.

Licensed chemical grub control is the proven, professional-grade solution. It is what municipalities and golf courses across the Lower Mainland rely on - and it is what we bring to your lawn.

Our Grub Stopr Control Treatment in Langley

We are a licensed grub control specialist serving residential and commercial properties across Langley and Surrey. Every application is carried out by certified pesticide applicators operating under BC's Integrated Pest Management Act - so you can be confident the treatment is legal, safe, and applied correctly.

We use two Health Canada–registered products, selected based on your lawn's specific situation and the time of year:

Acelepryn - Preventative Treatment

Acelepryn (active ingredient: chlorantraniliprole) is our preventative treatment of choice. Applied from mid-April through June, before chafer beetle grubs hatch and begin feeding, it is absorbed into the turf and works by paralyzing larvae that attempt to feed on grass roots. It carries very low toxicity to mammals, making it an appropriate choice for family lawns, commercial properties, and green spaces alike. Acelepryn is registered by Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency specifically for controlling European chafer beetle larvae in turfgrass.

Tetrino - Curative Treatment

Tetrino is our early curative option for lawns where an active infestation is already underway. Applied in July thru September when grubs are present and sized instar 1 or 2. Tetrino targets existing larval populations to halt further root destruction and reduce the food source that draws wildlife to your lawn.

Contact us for a free, detailed quote and you will know exactly what you are paying before any work begins.

Guaranteed Results

Our treatments come with a results guarantee. If you experience continued significant damage following your application, contact us and we will return to reassess and reapply at no additional charge. We stand behind our work.

How It Works - Step by Step

We understand that every lawn is unique, which is why we begin with a thorough assessment before any product is applied. Here is what the process looks like from start to finish:

\nInitial consultation. We discuss your lawn's history, any previous treatments, and the extent of visible damage - including wildlife foraging activity and the size of affected areas.
\nLawn measurement and quote. We measure your lawn area using satellite mapping and provide a transparent, itemized quote based on your specific property.
\nTreatment selection. Based on timing and infestation severity, we recommend either Acelepryn (preventative) or Tetrino (early curative) - or advise on the best sequencing if both are appropriate.
\nLicensed application. Our certified applicators apply the selected product at the correct rate, following all label directions and BC IPM regulations.
\nPost-treatment guidance. We provide clear aftercare instructions - including watering requirements - to maximize the treatment's effectiveness in your soil.
\nFollow-up and guarantee. We confirm results and advise on next steps. If any significant damage occurs, let us know as soon as possible so we can return and resolve the issue under our guarantee.

When to Book Your Langley Treatment

Timing is one of the most important factors in effective chafer beetle treatment. Here is the recommended window for Langley lawns:

Preventative Treatment: April thru June

Acelepryn works best when applied before eggs hatch - ideally from April through June, ahead of the adult beetle flight and egg-laying period. This is the optimal window to protect a lawn that has experienced past infestations or is at high risk. Treating preventatively means grubs never establish in damaging numbers in the first place, and wildlife has no reason to forage on your turf.

Early Curative Treatment: When Small Grubs are Present

If grubs are already present and feeding - visible as spongy turf, expanding brown patches, or active wildlife digging - Tetrino can be applied as an early curative treatment from July to September. Do not wait for the damage to worsen. Contact us as soon as you notice the signs so we can assess your lawn and begin treatment before the grubs mature and the infestation spreads further.

Book Early - Seasonal Capacity Is Limited

Our treatment season runs April through September, and booking slots fill quickly as Langley homeowners act ahead of the grub hatch. We strongly recommend booking your preventative treatment in spring to secure your spot. Waiting until damage is visible means working in a narrower window with a curative approach - effective, but earlier is always better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the treatment safe for kids and pets?

Acelepryn has been classified as having very low toxicity to mammals, including humans, dogs, and cats. It is the same product used by municipalities and golf courses across the Lower Mainland. We will provide specific re-entry guidelines for your property at the time of treatment, so you know exactly when it is safe for your family and pets to return to the lawn. Tetrino is considered safe for people and pets once the product has dried after application.

How long until I see results?

Preventative treatments with Acelepryn begin working as soon as grubs attempt to feed on treated roots - typically within the first few weeks after egg hatch in summer. You should see a significant reduction in wildlife foraging as the grub population declines. Early Curative treatments with Tetrino act on existing grub populations; visible improvement in wildlife activity typically follows within two to four weeks as the food source is reduced.

Do I need to be home during treatment?

No - you do not need to be present. We ask that the lawn area is accessible and that any gates are unlocked on the day of treatment. We will notify you when the application is complete and provide your post-treatment care instructions at that time.

What if the damage doesn't stop after treatment?

Our performance guarantee covers you. If you observe continued significant wildlife foraging or turf damage following your treatment, contact us and we will return to reassess the lawn and reapply at no additional charge. Our guarantee is valid for a full year from the date of application.

How is pricing calculated?

Our pricing is based on the measured area of your lawn - calculated from satellite mapping - so costs vary by property size. We provide free, detailed quotes before any work begins. Transparent, area-based pricing means you will always know exactly what you are paying for. Contact us to request your free quote and we will have a figure to you quickly.
